Lathe for Laser Cladding Systems
Our lathes are specifically designed to work in the harsh laser cladding environment. The base of the lathe is a heavy-duty steel frame. It includes levellers to assure that the base is set up perfectly horizontal at its selected location. The bed usually is wholly covered with steel plates for easy part accessibility and to prevent dust from entering the tailstock movement mechanism.
DescriptionThe headstock is fixed. It is solidly bolted to the base frame to provide stability. An e-motor with a frequency controller and gear system is installed to provide variable RPM. Heavy-duty bearings are used for the headstock drive shaft. The standard headstock is equipped with 3-jaw chuck for fixing the part. (4 Jaw available) The tailstock can be moved along a track for adjusting the distance between the headstock. The tailstock is mounted on a set of wheels to allow for easy manual adjustment. It is also possible to do this positioning using an E-motor sliding mechanism which is controlled from the spray lathe control panel. The tailstock is equipped with a pneumatic centre with adjustable pressure for secure part fixing.
E-stop integration with other equipment is also possible. Extra switches for lights, doors, dust collector and other components can be integrated into the control console panel. It includes a zero-rotation sensor to monitor rotation function – if the lathe stops rotating an alarm signal is generated which can be used for further integration.
The LCT turntables are built to the highest standard of quality and durability. It incorporates a solid welded steel base frame. LCT turntables are universal industrial turntable designed primarily for the manipulation of components during thermal spray. The standard unit can be adapted to any required size and specification for all laser cladding processes.
The tilling turntable is a two-axis, rotational and tilting, turntable. The full 180° (-90°… +90°) tilting range is a new and unique development from LCT. It enables optimal spray angles and access for coating of parts with complex geometries. The functions of the turntable are controlled via a separate control panel or a robot controller. Start/stop function, as well as RPM settings, can be integrated with a robot.
Rotational/Positioning and tilting turntable
The TT-180 turntable is designed to work in conjunction with the robot. All functions of the turntable are coordinated and controlled by the robot. The turntable has the capability of rotation/positioning, and tilting, controlled as external robot axes (7th and 8th axis). The tilting range is a total of 180° (-90°… +90°). All movement of the turntable is coordinated with the robot movement.
The functions of the turntable (rotation speed, positioning and tilting positions, directions of rotation, start/stop) are programmed via the robot teach pendant including a separate zero-rotation sensor to monitor rotation function.
Customized multi-station carousel component handling systems for series production, are also part of our program. Many different solutions are available and are typically custom-designed to fit a specific application. One of the simplest solutions is a 6 station "add-on" which can be placed on top of LCT's turntables.
Multi-station systems can be supplied as a stand-alone, which allows for easy repositioning. The multi-station system incorporates a user-friendly control console for selecting all the functions and displaying important parameters and alarms.
Alternatively, multi-station systems can be supplied as fully integrated systems, making the system suitable for serial or mass production.
Cladding head handling by robot
Today's complex components often require an Industrial Robot to manipulate the cladding head in a controlled and reproducible pattern. Industrial robots are found in almost all industries because of the considerable advantages and affordable competition against linear head handling systems. If necessary, one or more external axes can be added (robot track, tilting turntable, exhaust suction channel)
LCT offers a variety of robot manufacturers and is specialized in:
ABB, Fanuc, Motorman, KUKA
Linear cladding head Traverse Units
The linear traverse unit is a single or double axis manipulating system for moving the cladding head along the part. The Cladding head is mounted on an adjustable fixture which can be manually adjusted in two directions – in height and the distance from the centerline. Head traverse units are often integrated into a system or just as a stand-alone moveable traverse unit on a chassis for maximum flexibility. A motor and spindle mechanism drive it.
Optional - it is possible to connect an exhaust hood with a suction channel to integrate the best possible local dust extraction while reducing the size of the dust collector required.
The movement of the head holder is programmable with the following features:
Ignition / Start / Stop positions (programmable anywhere between the hardware end switches) Traverse speed, Number of cycles are also optional
